NAME:

 

The name of this CLUB shall be HACK PACK GOLF CLUB.

 

 

 

PURPOSE: 

 

To promote and foster among its members a closer bond for their mutual benefit, and to promote and conserve the best interests and true spirit or the game of golf as embodied in its ancient and honorable traditions.

 

To enforce uniformity in the rules: of the game by creating a representative authority.

 

To maintain a uniform system of handicapping as set forth in the regulations of the Northern California Golf Association in cooperation with the United States Golf Association.

 

To afford a convenient and authoritative body to govern Club tournaments held at various courses.

 

 

Fiscal Year:  The fiscal year for the Club will be Jan 1 through Dec 31.

 

 

MEMBERSHIP 

 

Membership shall be available to applicants whom meet criteria described herein.

 

NCGA Membership:  Memberships are individual and non-transferable. Dues include membership in the Northern California Golf Association for the fiscal year.  The NCGA provides $1 toward subscription to the quarterly magazine, NCGA News, monthly computerized handicap, NCGA tournament eligibility and any other special membership services available.

 

Renewals: All members must renew their memberships by December 1 to remain in good standing with the club

 

Sponsorship. Each candidate for membership shall be proposed and seconded by two active members in good standing. The Board of Directors shall act upon each proposal by vote and two negative votes shall disqualify any candidate.

 

 

Suspension:  In the event any member of this organization shall commit any act which reflects discredit or dispute therein, or shall refuse or neglect to comply with the rules and regulations adopted by the Board of Directors or the duly appointed officers, such member shall be subject to suspension or expulsion after 10 days written notice and the right to be heard, by a vote of two-thirds of the Board of Directors at any regular meeting or special meeting called for such purpose.

 

Annual Meeting: The Annual Meeting of the Hack Pack Golf Club shall be held on the third Saturday in the month of October. The Board of Directors shall provide for the holding of such other meetings as may be deemed necessary or desirable and they shall call special meetings upon written petition signed by not less than ten percent or the membership

 

Fees:  All membership fees and dues shall be established by the Board of Directors from time to time in such amounts as they deem to be adequate to operate and maintain the Club. Members shall be liable for dues until their written resignation has been received and accepted.

 

Full Membership:   Full members pay dues in advance and are afforded certain benefits exclusive to them. 

·         They are eligible for all prizes at monthly tournaments and annual awards. 

·         Full members can invite guests. 

·         Full members are eligible for dividends at the end of the fiscal year prorated to the months they were members during the fiscal year. 

·         They will receive a credit for notifying the tournament director of their inability to attend a tournament thirty days in advance of that tournament will receive a Credit equal to 1/12 of the annual dues actually paid.

·         They are the only members with a vote.

 

Full Member Dues:   Dues are for an annual membership and can be paid annually, half yearly, or quarterly.  Annual payments are due on December 1, and include any annual charges and tournament fees from January to June.  Second half dues are due on June 1 and include tournament fees from July to December.  Quarterly dues are due on December, March, June, and September 1st and include tournament fees for the following calendar quarter.

 

Associate Members:  Associate Members are ineligible to win major tournaments or annual prizes.  They must pay annual dues, and will receive an NCGA membership and credit for one tournament.  Associate members may play in any tournament by paying any associated tournament fees if space is available.

 

Credit:  Any member notifying the tournament director of the inability to attend a tournament less than thirty days in advance will receive $10 credit.

 

No call, No Shows:  Any member failing to notify the club of their inability to attend a tournament is in violation of maintaining their status of a member in good standing.

 

 

 

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

Board:  The Board of Directors shall consist of five members in good standing of the Hack Pack Golf Club and they shall exercise all powers of management of the Club not specifically excepted by these By-Laws.

 

New Board Members:. At least five weeks prior to the Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors shall appoint a nominating committee consisting of five members of the organization.  At least four weeks prior weeks prior to Annual Meeting, this committee shall submit to the Board and shall post upon the Club bulletin board, a list of nominees to fill any vacancies for the term of office beginning on the day of the Meeting. Names of the other members in good standing may be nominated by petition signed by at least ten members and submitted to the Board at least two weeks prior to the Annual Meeting. At least one week prior to the Annual Meeting, a list of all candidates nominated shall be mailed to each member at their last known address and a copy of such a list shall be posted on the Club bulletin board.

 

Voting.  Voting shall be by written ballot and those names receiving the greatest number of votes cast by those present at the meeting shall be declared to be elected.  The Board shall appoint a committee of three judges who are not members of the Board or candidates for election to supervise the election.

 

Board Meetings: The Board of Directors shall meet at such times and places as they may select and a majority of the Board shall constitute a quorum at any meeting.

 

Vacancy:  In the case of any vacancy through death, resignation, disqualification or other cause, the remaining directors, even though less than a quorum, may elect a successor by majority vote to hold office for the unexpired term of the director whose place shall be vacant, and until the election of his successor.

 

 

OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES

 

Election:  Within ten days after the Annual Meeting and election, the Board of Directors shall meet and elect the officers.

 

Officers:  The officers shall consist or president, tournament director, webmaster, and treasurer, and their duties shall be such as their title would indicate or such as may be assigned to them respectively from time to time.

 

Committees: The Board or Directors shall authorize and define the powers and duties of all committees. Chairmen and members of all committees shall be appointed by the president, and he shall be ex-officio member of all committees except the nominating committee.

 

The following committees shall be appointed each year, with such other committees, as the president may deem necessary or advisable:

 

Tournament Committee:  Tournament Committee to arrange and schedule Tournaments.

 

Handicap Committee:  Handicap Committee to establish a fair and proper system of handicaps In accordance with procedures laid down by the Northern California Golf Association.

 

Social Committee:  Social Committee to encourage and arrange social and entertainment features and events for special occasions.

 

LOCAL RULES

 

Nine:  Nine is the maximum score on any hole except in major tournaments.

Stick Around:  Free cocktails at the end of each month’s tournament.

 

Credits:   Credits will be applied to the next payment due.

 

Early Tee Times:  All things being equal error on the side of early tee times.

 

Credit:  Any member notifying the tournament director of the inability to attend a tournament less than thirty days in advance will receive $10 credit.

 

Pumpkins:  We never play Half Moon Bay in October.

 

Proxy:   No member will send a proxy to play in his place.

 

Mulligan:   Members will not be given a "mulligan" for any missed shot during tournament play, except when purchased in advance at specially sponsored Hack Pack events.

 

Slow Play:  The low handicap golfer of each playing group will be the marshal of that group and will be responsible for keeping play moving along at an acceptable rate, keeping score, and officiating minor disputes.

 

Guests:  Members may bring a guest if we have extra tee times after the prescribed sign-up deadline, but the guest fee will be the responsibility of the member in all cases.  If we have a "no-show" guest and we are assessed monies from the golf course, the member will be responsible.  All guests must have a sponsoring member.
